In an official press conference held at The Exeter Ice House on Thursday, June 19, 2008, the Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL) formally announced the New Hampshire Freeze as a member of the Minor Hockey League's inaugural season. Exeter Ice House President Doug Yasika, VP and General Manager Dick Arpin and VP of Hockey Operations Peter Tufts along with EPHL commissioner Jim Riggs addressed the crowd, including members of local press and radio, to highlight the mission of the league and welcome the Freeze to its membership. This will undoubtedly provide a venue for some local talent to make the jump to the professional ranks with the intention of players having the opportunity to advance to higher levels within professional hockey.
The NH Freeze will be playing a 50 game schedule, beginning November 1, 2008 which will include 25 home games at the Ice House. The league is currently comprised of teams from Danbury, CT (Mad Hatters), Brooklyn, NY (Brooklyn Aces), West Orange, NJ (The Jersey Rockhoppers), Rome, NY and Exeter, NH (The NH Freeze). Additional teams will be announced by the end of June.
More information will be made available such as tryouts, game schedules, ticket purchases (including season tickets) and merchandise in the very near future.
