The newly labeled New Hampshire Junior Freeze (formerly Exeter Junior Freeze) are making their final preparations for the 08/09 season opener. This year's squad will see the return of some of the IJHL's premiere players such as the league's leading goaltender Jason Aguiar, top ten scoring forward Brandon Burbank and the league's 2nd top scoring defenseman Steven Hansmar. The Freeze heavily populated last season's league leaders board and with some of those players moving on to the college ranks (Brady Martin – Bethel University, Kasey Horvath – Liberty University and Justin Miner – University of New England) leaves the door open for talented players like returning forwards Dave McCormick, Juho Kauppinen and newly inked players Cody Blevins and Finland's Jarno Henrikkson to step up into leadership roles. Rick Gaeta and Nate Morrill will also return to solidify the Freeze blue line.
Newcomers Kyle Reilly, Bobby Meskell, Zac Lawrence, Eric Collado, Petr Stastka, DJ Turner, Riley Proulx, Mitch Granoff, Austin Viens and Chris Bauman have been skating with the team over the summer and look to contribute out of the gate. Goaltenders Alex Lambros and Dan Mackin will also make their returns.
The NH Freeze have announced that Burbank will wear the C this season and Aguiar and Gaeta will sport the A's on their jerseys. “These guys have proven themselves and are expected to pull this team together. We have a lot of new players in the system and it all begins in the room so we have put the best three guys forward to get the job done” comments head coach Dick Arpin. “We will be playing well over 50 league games this season and chemistry is extremely important. Our guys work well together both on and off the ice and that makes all of the difference come playoff time”. The Freeze have made it to both the IJHL finals and Nationals finals the past 2 seasons and look to bring the hardware home this year.
